Have you had similar after receiving bad news?

My friends husband died this morning, dropped dead from an aneurysm of the heart.
Of course I am not here for sympathy but rather to discuss the affects that you feel TBI and PCS have upon sadness. Without a TBI you would be upset and have the symptoms to go along with such an occasion. But having been through brain trauma........

-My right arm keeps jumping,
-I am typing the wrong letters constantly having to correct spellings,
-My sight is jumpy, Im looking down but my eyes jump up,
-I have not thought logically about tasks such as making tea, ie I went to put a kettle of water into a saucepan etc,
-I have blurred vision,
-A racing heart,
-Terrible head pain,
-I can hear things my family can't, ie my daughter crying when I know she is sleeping,
-My ears are ringing,
-Balance is up the wall,

Maybe these problems were there yesterday, just accentuated or noticeable now. It just amazes me how a person can change so much from one accident.
Have you had similar after receiving bad news?

peachey,

This is sort of a fight or flight syndrome. Instead, your brain is struggling to make sense of what is happening. Wires/thoughts are getting crossed. Sort of like your emotional hormones and neurotransmitters are all confused and surging out of control.

Just as PCS can cause flat affect, it can also cause a myriad of other strange symptoms. Try to take is slow and quiet for a while.

With your friend, remember the 3 H's. Hugs, Hush-up, and Hang Around. You don't need to be vocal to be support for your friend. The 3 H's also help as others need to be cognizant of the needs of people struggling like we sometimes due. We need others to just Hug us, Hush-up, and Hang Around.

I hope you can be support as you also take care of yourself.

My best to you.
