Why is PCS aggravated by exercise/exertion?

Hi all,

Just seeking open discussion regarding the adverse effects of exercise/exertion on PCS?

Is there proven physiology behind this?

My guess is that exercise causes an increase in blood pressure which travels to the cerebral hemisphere and wears down already damaged axon myelin sheaths.

This would explain why my symptoms (e.g. brain tingling and slurred speech) are greatly worsened in the 24 hours following exercise/exertion but decrease in severity as the myelin sheaths begin to heal (e.g. reduced brain tingling and slurred speech).

Thoughts and knowledge appreciated!

halknelson,

I think you are trying to make too much of the struggles from exercise and other efforts. It could be simply a metabolic issue of the cells struggling to get the substances needed for complete and adequate metabolism. If muscles struggle from fatigue, brain cells likely experience a similar fatigue. Plus, during and after exercise and effort, there are greater amounts of the wastes from metabolism in the blood stream.
