What should I look for in my therapist?
In Britain we are behind in therapies. Myofacial release is not really known about.
Could you tell me what I should look for in a therapist? There are only 2 near me who claim to specialise in this treatment. What is the risk if I was treated by someone who did not know what they were doing? |
I cannot speak to all types of therapies, but there is always a risk that someone will make you worse, rather than better. In my experience, the discomfort is usually short term. On the other hand, you don't want improper treatment for an extended period.
I know that the UK has a rather extensive network of cranial sacral practitioners. You might want to investigate that. PM me if you want. |
Hi peachey
So sorry to hear of the trauma you have had to go through. The first thing I look for in any doctor or therapist, is one who listens. If they listen and respond, you have a winner. I once asked a doc. "why" a certain test, instead of answering me, he said I had to do the test. Well that was the last I saw of him! I wish you all the best, and I hope you feel better soon. ginnie
