Ringing in the ears!
Has any one found something to help eliminate the constant ringing in the ears?
|
Ignoring it. Mine is still as loud as ever. Talk radio helps me to sleep. Radio back on when I wake up. How long have you had PCS?

Took a blow to the head Oct 4 2012, so I am just beginning, so to speak. I have mild tension type headaches that come and go but the ringing in the ears is driving me crazy!

I have constant ringing in both ears (more prominent on the right side) and ive just had to deal with it. There is stuff that claims to cure tinnitus, but ive heard it doesnt work.
Benzodiazepines (anxiety medication) will "sometimes" help alleviate the intensity. However, its not worth becoming addicted to them. It's just a background noise to me now....It used to drive me crazy but now I hardly notice it's there. |
No I have not found anything that helps just make sure your ears are clean..

I found that naproxen or ice packs had helped for the inflamation also a antihistamine for the burning of ears when I had headaches.I would suggest after symptoms calm down to try holistic vitamins.
I take now Solaray Super IbuActin Maximum Strength contains Turmeric or Curcuma longa. You do not want to take NSAID for to long because can cause bleeding. Wish you the best:winky: |
There has been extensive research into tinnitus. There are no cures. Good brain nutrition will be your best bet. Otherwise, you need to learn to ignore it. PCS can cause perseveration where the brain fixates on a stimulation such as the ringing. Once your brain gets caught in this mode, it can take more effort to ignore. Other sounds can be a good start as you redirect your attention to something else. I have had tinnitus for more than decade. My mother has had it since she was a little girl (85 years ago). Accept that it is untreatable so you can lower the anxiety that it causes. A rise in your anxiety level will make it worse.
My suggested vitamin supplement regimen is in a thread titled "Vitamin Supplements." I was prescribed this regimen by a doctor 30 years ago. It takes about 2 months for the brain to start to show improvements from good nutrition. Tell us more about your symptoms. There is lots of good help here. Too much aspirin can make it worse. Enteric aspirin will not cause the stomach to bleed. It dissolves in the intestines. My best to you. |
A friend at work has it as do I. For him anti inflammatories trigger it. You may want to keep a medical diary to give you clues to possible triggers. Mine varies in volume but is constant. I am lucky as I do not find it unbearable.

The ringing in my ears definitely gets louder when I get stressed. To a point I have accepted it use it to drowned out "busy" noise. That being said, when my ears are ringing really loud I take it as a cue that I have overdone it, since by that point, I am not making the best decisions for myself (I am stubborn). That is a reaction I cannot ignore.
