very skeptical about NUCCA chiro
I've read some people found help with going to a chiro so I found a Dr. that is listed in the NUCCA directory and had good reviews online. After I first visit, I am very skeptical. It seemed some of the test when he was moving my legs that he was creating resistance with his hands making me think I was tight on one side.
The tool that measured where your pelvis is at and the spine angle showed my right pelvis is slightly lower and spine angle way to the left. They said my atlas was out of alignment and then took xrays. They didn't do an adjustment that day for some reason and was charged $160 for 4 xrays and $75 for office visit. I currently don't have any neckpain or back pain so wondering if it was a bad idea for me to go to chiro in 1st place? It's like the idea that some adjustments would help improve my symptoms is so tempting that I think it's blinding my gut instinct that says it's all a huge $ grab and I'm the sucker. I was skeptical about acupuncture until I tried it and found it helped a lot so I try to keep an open mind. What has been your experience with your NUCCA chiropractor and if you saw an improvement, after how many visits did it take? I was in a car accident 1 yr ago and main symptoms are headaches, difficulty concentrating, sensitivity to sound, brain fog, lightheadness, convergence insufficiency. |
Good for you, for being "heads up" about the $$$-grab on the part of the NUCCA chiros.
My initial visit cost $400 for the "3-D" extensive x-rays, plus adjustments. The following appts. in the next week had me paying an additional $200. There was $600 cash paid. They wanted to see me 3 x a week for treatments/adjustments thereafter, for $100 per visit. I was "into it" having paid $800 cash before I 'wisened up' that I could not actually afford such treatment at such costs! You are wise to beware! I cannot say that I derived "$800 worth of relief" for my overall symptoms. It was helpful, yes. However the cost was not worth the benefits, in my own experience. Your own experience may vary, of course. In my case, it was $800 that I would have done far better *not* to have spent on NUCCA/Altas Othogonal Chiro care, at the time and my financial circumstances. |
TisT,
The reason you did not get any treatment/adjustments was because the chiro needs to carefully review the x-rays. Hopefully, you don't need any more. The treatment may help with head aches at a minimum. It can do more possibly. It depends on whether those other symptoms are caused by inflammation at occiput, C-1, C-2. The fees you were charged are quite low. In fact, not much more than a standard chiro work-up. Hopefully, this will help. Keep in mind that you will do best if you ice after each treatment. My best to you. |
