Hoarding the fat clothes this time
Three times before I lost a pile of weight. I mean a pile. The first time almost 90 pounds, the next time about 50, the last time (about 9 years ago) about 60. Scary.
Each time, I happily gave away, threw away, or sold all my fat clothes. "I'll never wear a 2X again!" And that was the conventional wisdom: don't keep the fat clothes "just in case". Get rid of them! And three times I went out and bought the same clothes all over again when I gained weight. Adding insult to injury. I've lost about 30 pounds so far this time, and guess what? I'm NOT going to get rid of all the fat clothes. Not just yet. Some would say I'm programming myself to fail, but I did it right the first three times, and I failed anyway and had to shell out money I could ill afford to spend on another round of fat clothes each time. I have about 8 favorite sweaters that I wore when I was working--Lands End classic sweaters. Similar ones now sell for $40-50 each. That's $300+ worth of sweaters I'm going to hang on to for a while. They aren't going out of style, ever, and if I don't blimp up again in a couple years, I'll call it safe and give them to the Goodwill. I figure in a year or two, I'll know if I'm going to make it this time. In the meantime, I'm keeping one big box full of each size that gets too big, just in case. |
Wise...plus it helps to put them on the thinner, healthier body from time to time when a little boost is required or desired :D.
I wish you the strength, will and courage required to follow through on your aspirations. With love, Erika |
This year I lost a good deal of weight and sizes. I took in three dresses and had them alter, they were favorites of mine, I was sad to give uo some of my sweaters but I will be getting more.
I have lost around 60 pounds this past year and going to lose more. |
Wow:D. That's awesome Darlene.
Wishing you and everyone the strength, will and courage required to follow through on your aspirations as well. With love, Erika |
Been there done that too, Blessings and am now wearing all my NEW fat clothes. I may continue to do so for awhile..:p
You guys make me sick, with all of your weight loss and skinny new clothes..:D Nice going Blessings.. |
Those big sweaters are also good for layering!
My hat is off to you who can lose such weight. I'm overweight at less than 140 lbs. All the weight is carried right in front, between the boobs and above the thighs (luckily). Thanks, Mom. One good thing about being older is, no one asks me if I'm pregnant anymore! |
I hear you, Sal. For the last three or four years, even though I was genuinely happy for my friends who were losing weight and/or eating healthier, on the inside I'd be saying, "Oh shut up". And then I'd go have another cookie.

I hear you. I live on a yo-yo weight also. My present weight loss is 15 pounds. I guess if I counted all the weight loss I have had in my life I would lose all of me!!!!:p
