SS Disab ility quest.
I retired from public safety after 31 years and receive a pension. I've also worked in private jobs long enough to have 40 quarters for SS in the future. My question is: Can I still apply for SS disibility for PN even though i collect a pension? I'm hearing from some that I cannot apply for SS disibility since I make too much money with a state funded pension?
Any thoughts from those who know? Thanks for the help. DOC |
Hi Dr. Awkward
Welcome to Neruo Talk. Post to the SS forum where this may be discussed. I sure would like to know the answer to your question too. Under "search" bar at the top of the page, tap and you can just type in Social Security Forum.
I don't know alot about this, but many on NT do. I wish you all the best. ginnie |
if you are applying for ssdi, which you would be based on having the work credits to qualify then it doesnt matter what your income is as long as its not earned income. pensions, investments, dividends, stocks, etc. dont factor in at all.
for those applying for ssi, which are those who dont meet the work credit requirements for ssdi, it does matter how much income and assets they have for meeting the non medical requirements. |
Thank You
Thanks for the information I will give it a try.
