Happy + Healthy New Year
Everything changed in an instant for me in 2012 — everything I knew to be true, everything that I took for granted about me, my brain, my work, my relationships, my raising of my son, my health.
I'm sure the same holds true for many who visit this forum. The opportunity such life change presents is to grow larger — somehow — in the face of so much change, difficulty, fear, uncertainty. To choose something other than shrinking back. Here's to small steps forward for everyone in 2013. I am grateful for all that my injury is teaching me — and to know that others are walking a similar path. Todd |
Happy New Year to all
This post really resonates with me.
I'm not in good shape today. Again. As always lately. I find the acceptance of this condition the biggest challenge. I had no idea this was coming for me, a life overhaul in 2012. First my partner's heart attack at age 44... Then my concussion that I truly never thought would be so awful. But there is hope, there is the realization that many people would trade their problems for mine which seem small in comparison. Post-cardiac and post-concussion "us" will be glad to see 2013! It's a blessing in its own right. Right? :) |
Thanks!
Almost everything changed for me Sept.11. My kids stayed the same at least! But my life did not. Very tough, isn't it? Wishing all lots of good (speedier!!!) progress for 2013. Last night (nye) I said to my kids that it had been quite a bad year (my injury, a few deaths in the family, etc.), my 11 son said 'but mum, there's been more good than bad'! So true when we look at the big picture. But oh do we suffer!!!! Woke up with a massive hangover - no party, no drinking, no visitors, just a very quiet night as usual! Welcome to brain injury or PCS!! When I try to explain to people how this feels, I tell them to imagine their worst hangover (headache, spinning, unable to focus or move, light sensitivity, etc.), and then to imagine it goes on 24/7 for 16 months and counting :) Happy New Year and good healing to all! |
