do I have upper cervical issues?
 

6 months ago I was knocked unconscious by a rather huge fellow and I don't have any recollection of the rest of the night. A couple days later I was diagnosed with concussion, of which I thought most of the symptoms had subsided after 1 month. I decided to run 3 miles (I am not a runner by any means) which caused me to relapse into a worse state of concussion the following day. I have been gradually getting better over the following 5 months, but the last month has me feeling that most of my issues may be attributed to neck issues. If I put pressure on the bumps on my head directly behind my ears I get a very strange (not painful) nauseous feeling.

Other symptoms are sensitivity to some types of loud noise. Sometimes my scalp is itchy for about an hour for no reason and it is very annoying. Also, mild headaches at the base of scull/upper neck that seem to come on if I bend my head forward for an extended period of time.

Anyone have similar issues? Any recommended treatments?

I suggest you see a neurosurgeon, and discuss this with him. He may order some tests, which may include an MRI of your cervical spine (neck) or he may want to look at your head!

But I do think you should be seen by a specialist, and not just by your doctor. So get a referral to a neurosurgeon, or perhaps you can make the appointment yourself -- I don't know. I'v already seen a neurologist. He said that I should return to regular activities and stop taking Tylenol

but my symptoms seem to change every week or two, and it wasn't until after I saw him that most of my symptoms seem to be neck oriented...

Chris --why do you feel your symptoms are neck oriented?? Usually if its from the neck ,you have pain in the neck or scapular,shoulder,pain going down a arm into fingers numbness..etc...I think thats why Leesa was saying get a mri of your head.? Unless you have other symptoms you may have not mentioned. I think Mri would be a good start.

You saw a neuroloGIST. Did you see a NEUROSURGEON? Those are two different doctors.

Go to a different one than the one you saw. They're not all alike. The one you saw sounds like a jerk. God bless. Hugs, Lee
