Botox

I got my first anterior scalene Botox injection this morning. The Dr said it would take a few days to relax the muscle. My neck isn't sore but I do feel very sleepy.....probably just bored watching the movers pack my house up. I will check back in once I get to Cuba and I hope the Botox helps and allows me to be as physically active as I was before I fell on my left cervical rib side.

Good Luck-I hope it works for you!

I don't think the Botox is helping. I have less scapular and scalene pain but my arm....ever have days when you feel like you would be better off without it? I will start PT in a few days; I hope it helps because there is not a lot of sophisticated medical care in Guantanamo.

I am having better luck with monthly trigger point injections than I did with the botox.

Cortisone every 3 months and lidocaine in between. Along with the correct PT it seems to be helping the muscles. If I do too much or overdo it on the bodywork pt i still get nerve flare -ups. I have also tried Neural Prolotherapy and it seemed to help the nerve pain in my arm, but its still experimental and not covered by insurance.

Glad you have found something that works for you! What muscles do you have injected? Do you get cortisone injected into the scalene muscles?

Yes, depending on whats hurting at the time, I've had, scalenes, traps, subclavious, teres, serratus,rhomboids-anywhere where there are trigger points.I can tell right away that it works, just not sure how long. It might be starting to wear off-after 3 weeks. I am reallly interested in trying the dry needling or trigger point acupuncture but it is not legal in CA for PT's to do it. I am going to ask my acupuncturist about it.

Are they ultrasound guided injections? What type of Dr. does those for you? My neurologist gives me TPI's every 4 weeks, but he will not use cortisone.

One of my pain dr.'s. at one of the leading ortho practices: Orthohealing in Los Angeles. What is his reason for not using cortisone? I know too much of it isnt good. My other dr. is a leading neurologist/pain dr for TOS and he uses Cortisone too, but I dont know how often he will do it. (he's not covered, so I dnt let him do it anymore), but he did my botox, which didnt work. There is a Dr. on the facebook page who doesnt like cortisone either. Do your TRP injections help you?
