What kind of shoes do you wear to work?
 

So those of you who are still working, what kind of shoes do you wear to keep your feet from feeling like they're freezing? I can't wear my uggs everyday, and have been keeping flats under my desk, as well as a space heater (because the AC makes it too cold anyway, the heater is not on my feet). I work in a professional setting and need something than aren't fuzzy slippers. Currently, I don't freak out when things touch my feet (and know this could change), I get pins and needles in my toes and heel, electric feelings a lot all over the bottom of the foot, cold wet feeling a lot.

My flats are not tight, I've never been one for heels or wearing too tight shoes, so that's not an issue either. I'm only 39, I need something that feels warm and looks good too. Too bad they don't make John Fluevog slippers. Those are the cutest shoes. I've always been one to be barefoot in the house, and that's been an issue too. I walked on the kitchen tile barefoot this morning and it hurt! I can't wear socks to bed, even before this. I obviously need to get some slippers too, but they're all so ugly.

I have just taken delivery of an electric foot muff today so I will let you know how that works- I was contemplating keeping it under my desk at work.

An electric foot muff??? What on earth is that? It sounds like a fuzzy warm muff like a hand muff? I could never use that. Heat is number 1 enemy for me.

Matter of fact, it doesn't matter what KIND of shoe I wear, its all about the temperature. If my feet get overheated, it was cause a flare. And...anything can cause that. :(

I could not wear the zcoils. Interesting, but I couldn't deal with the springs, or the look. I'm WAY too picky about the way they look. Also, I really wish I could find something soft on the inside, something that keeps my feet warm without being tight, like socks. If I wore socks with my flats, it would make them too tight. I can wear sneakers outside of work, but they still don't keep my toes warm. Or at least seemingly warm, I know it's my stupid nerves making them feel cold, even if they're not (although they are quite often).

I assume there aren't a lot of you out there that are still working, or have a need for soft shoes? It would be easier if I live somewhere that snowed, I'd have a better excuse for wearing fur lined snow boots.

I work from home all but 4 months out of the year so it's easy for me. The 4 months I have to work outside of the home is rough cuz I usually work 12 hours a day and have to dress up in the evenings, casual during the day. I live out of my car and pack everything I might possibly need for "in case".

Unfortunately, I suffer and wear what looks best regardless of consequence. But since its warm months it is better, lots of sandles, open toed heels. For me it's not about comfort its always about temperature. As long as I keep them from getting hot I am good, so I don't think much about shoes.

Winter at home is my problem, keeping them from hot cold hot cold...

I don't have a good response to the OP's question, but I wanted to share. I first became aware of my PN because I had pain in my left foot. I thought it was a callous or bone-joint issue. After several doctors, podiatrists and wrong diagnoses, I was finally diagnosed with PN, and the foot pain was ascribed to that. This month, I went to the podiatrist with the same foot pain and a callous. He now tells me that I have foot pain, bone pain and a recurring callous because I have 3 mm of fat pad where I should have 1 cm of fat pad on the bottom of my foot. And I still have the PN. Pretty funny, huh?

I am not bothered so much by the cold. It's the heat that really exacerbates my PN. For my PN-ed and fat-pad-less foot pain, I wear a pair of ASICS running shoes. Recently, I started to experiment with also using some callous pads.

I taught English last year, it was difficult, but I did dress up every day, I also dress for church. I have no sensation from above the knee down, so cannot tell if shoes fit until I develop a blister, I also am always cold, and have stability issues, I walk with a cane. My pain levels without medication are very high. I have found that Propet, Drew, and Softwalk Jupiters all make a Mary Jane that I can wear. Propet also makes a fur lined lace up boot, fairly dressy, called Armine , that is warm and stable. I wear Brooks or Asics sneakers, I find New Balance too wide and I hate the way they look. I wear a size 12 medium, 13 in sneakers.
Zappos is great if you know what you want, Footsmart gives more information about the shoes and carry more Propets, which are very reasonable compared to Drew.

I have more problems trying to find shoes that I can drive in. My right foot seems to give me more problems than then left. Tennis/athletic shoes drive me NUTS when I drive. Usually I last about 5 minutes and take them off. Now the heat is on in the car which makes everythings worse. I can't win. flip flops in the summer is the best. I too get the feeling my feeling my feet are really cold as ice but arent. I do best at home with ugg type half slippers (http://www.amazon.com/UGG-Australia-...+slippers+pink) worn with not tight socks. I don't know what I would do if I had to work outside of my stable. My "work" consists of wearing Ariat barn boots. Otherwise I would prefer Jimmy Choo's. I'd be in BIG trouble with an office job. This time of year in northern Va. when I go out shopping, I usually wear flat/small heel, knee high boots. I have several pair that aren't tight over the top of my feet where the neuropathy bothers me most. I usually wear a cashmere blend sock with them and dont seem to have a problem. Although, I seem to be like most in that when walking around I am ok, it is when I stop that everything goes haywire!
