Nerve regeneration....

I've been curious about how many nerves there are and how nerves are damaged and how they heal.

Does anyone know of references about the number of nerves there are in any given quadrant/sector of a human? Most papers I read and occasionally cite make the ASSUMPTION that WE all know. That and med advertisers for restless leg syndrome.

In a new search for info, I came across this article about nerve regeneration. I pity the rats used, but find the way nerves start to grow after a deliberate injury, amazing. I guess that things are healing as they are still being injured in some of our cases, and, is why the hurt continues? - j

Hi Dahlek, I think in my case, once the nerves were in the right environment then were able to start to regenerate again, but whilst they were trying, i was getting lots of bouts of worsening of symptoms as they were still sending confused signals as they do normally when damaged, but as the time went by they got stronger & the flare ups become lesser as the months went by.
I hardly get any burning these days and have regained a lot more feeling in my soles of my feet which were completely numb, but still not !00% yet.
all the best
Brian :)
