Well everything went great. They removed the first rib; scalene muscles; and did the peck minor

Pain has been under control with some great meds there has been some challenging. Moments. But overall has gone better than expected

Just wanted to update u

Glad you're doing well. How was Dr. T? Keep us posted on your recovery. Thanks

Dr t was great. Pain has been pretty manageable except 2 times I slept too long and got behind on my meds. Am not to the point where I know if surgery was successful yet. Should get to leave and stay in hotel on Tuesday. Then will have drain removed on Friday

Hopefully improvement will continue.

I also forgot to say that he said my scalenes were hard and tight and my nerves had a lot of scar tissue surrounding them. So surgery was def needed

I had a ton of scar tissue as well (brachial plexus was covered and fused to the 1st rib). It's too bad there is no definitive imaging to show this. I still have hope that 7 Tesla MRI will give doctors greater visibility in the near future.

Well, just wanted to update everyone how I am doing. Things seem to be going pretty good. I am still on quite a bit of pain meds. Dr. wanted to keep me on these for a few weeks so that I will keep moving the arm plenty. I have all movement on my arm except am unable to lift my arm from the elbow up. It is not frozen as I can move it with my other arm, just the muscles are still in shock from the surgery. Dr. said this would come back with a little time. I am also numb in my index and two small fingers.

It is amazing though, Dr. Thompson said as soon as he cut the pec minor, the shoulder fell back into place where it should be. I can tell a big difference just looking in the mirror, that it has fallen back in place where it should be.

Also just a note to all those considering surgery, my doctor said that surgery is just the beginning of curing TOS. That physical therapy after surgery is necessary and very important. However, I am not starting physical therapy until 4 weeks post op. They did give me a couple at home exercises to do to keep the arm moving, but said to take it easy so that it has time to heal.

So very anxious to see how things go the next month, and how long it will take me to be able to get back to work.

I'm glad to hear that you made it through and thinks are going well. I hope the pain continues to ease up a bit, I know that regardless of how strong the meds are things can be challenging to deal with following an operation.

When you can, please continue to let us know how things go. Thank you!
