Rough few days :(

So I'm nearly 3 weeks into my 2nd concussion and have been trying to take things one day at a time. I'm now experiencing intense anxiety that is very similar to this point with my first concussion in 2010. I've also had very bad vertigo, which quite frankly has been rather debilitating. I'm trying to tell myself things will settle/pass in their own time, but my body is stuck in the "flight or fight" mode.

I'm scared that the vertigo is permanent as well as the anxiety that comes along with it. I thought as a "veteran" PCS survivor that I wouldn't deal with this level of anxiety again, but that's not the case. :(

Tomorrow I have a consult with a hearing & balance center to assess my dizziness & decide I what testing I need. I know I need to stay positive and be thankful for small blessings...just feeling low today.

Thanks for listening ~ any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Sorry to hear about your anxiety. I have the same issues and it's slowly going away. Sometimes I get sudden panic attacks, its quite scary. The anxiety sometimes prevents me from taking naps. And the insomnia at night for me, just makes me imagine if i got 8 hours of sleep, that I would feel great the next day, but it doesn't happen. Ah, the struggles of having PCS.

Hi Consider - I have the same issues with anxiety preventing me from napping. I try to rest when I can, meditate or do something to help settle my nerves, but my brain feels like it is wired. Nighttime is not as bad for me, although I don't sleep as well as I normally would. Sorry to hear about your insomnia, I feel for you!!

I hate having low days like that. It feels so hopeless and that it will never end.

Fortunately, we all continue to make progress! If you are really struggling with anxiety, as I still do, have you considered seeing a therapist? Or a sports rehab doctor who can help you find a good therapist?

I really had a hard time with anxiety, and at times still do. However, I am seeing a cognitive behavior thearpist who has experience with TBI and it has been wonderful to lessening the anxiety. I no longer feel like I'm on a runaway train most days.

Remember, you are not alone in your struggle. We are all here for you ((hugs)) to both of you!
