You'll Never Walk Alone
I've been wanting to see the movie Carousel for quite some time now. Watching musicals on TV was the only time mom didn't mind having me in the same room with her. She was too absorbed in the movie to care. :D
This is a scene from the movie (play version) where they sing the song, but it's not my favorite scene. My favorite is when the man who died sings the song into the ear of his daughter. This song has been a "theme song" of mine ever since I first saw the movie as a little girl. My father looked a lot like Gordon McCrae, the original actor in the movie (also played Curly in Oklahoma). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbbq2Mfbhsw |
Ahhhhhhhh Carousel is one of my favorites, right up there with Show Boat...remember Kathryn Grayson, Ava Gardner and Howard Keel? ~sigh
They don't make them like that anymore. *grin |

I sure do remember all those names. The ones that stick out most with me are Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald. They were her all-time favorites, and I teased her relentlessly about it when I was a kid. I thought they were over-the-top in the corny department. She was downright vicious in her defense of them. :D Her FAVORITE movie was Maytime. I didn't realize it then, but I sincerely believe that was the reason she married my father. But she got to marry "Paul." Their long life together proved it to be true - they always remembered. She named my sister after Jeanette's character in the movie. My sister was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, and mom got to show her off to her friends. THAT was why the movie made her so happy. Duh :p Here's a scene from the movie where they sing mom's FAVORITE song. The scene itself is kind of long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHaRVVEUWOs |
Figured I'd round this out with a "thank you" for the people in my life who cared enough to love me AND fight with me. In their own way, they gave me the strength I needed to grow a backbone. It hurt to lose them, but this song always brings a smile to my heart knowing I was blessed to have them in my life for a little while.
It's the song from "To Sir, With Love" - one of my favorite movies during a very difficult time of my life. :o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wNNL...elated&search= |
help me please (advice)
how do u get a ex boyfriend back
|
Hi Bec
I'm not sure if that's possible, or even desirable. I guess it would depend on the circumstances. :o I never wanted any of my ex-boyfriends back, but after my divorce I wanted my ex-husband back. It worked for a while, but then the same old problems kept arising. It turned into a cat and mouse game between us, until both of us were exhausted. When I finally broke it off for good and met my husband, I saw what was missing. My husband loves me as much as I love him. It didn't work with my ex-husband because it was one-sided. He didn't truly love me, and there was NOTHING I could have done to make him love me. We can't control the emotions and desires of another human being. If we can, it doesn't last for very long. My ex-husband and I broke up some 20 years ago, and we're both happily married now. We'll never be lovers again, but we've developed a true friendship that benefits us all - including the son we had together. |
After watching this video, now I know where my mom got some of her sayings.
