New sytpmoms have my peranoid now!

Just venting!

As if what i was experiencing was not enough, now i have these two new symptoms that have me freaking out.

Feel like there is lump in my throat and its take several attempts just to swallow water.

Had a hard time breathing last night and still difficult today.

Having a hard time staying positive right now!

I find it hard to believe that anxiety can cause such physical symptoms.

Thoughts?

All can be symptoms of anxiety. I can feel the stress and tension just from reading your posts! You really need to try to find a way to relax. Perhaps staying off the computer would help. You may need to stop focusing on what is going on with you. Are you seeing a counsellor, psychologist or someone that can help you? If not, you really should be!

Anxiety is a very real symptom of tbi and if you can find a way to relax I'm sure you'd feel a lot better! I can't follow all the different people on here, sorry, are you taking medication for anxiety? Meditating? Meditating has made a world of difference with my panic attacks/anxiety/depression. You really need to quiet all the worry going on in your brain.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time of it. Sending calm thoughts your way....

Cycle-

I hear what you are saying about relaxing. I have tried to meditate but its hard to calm my thoughts enough.

I am taking natural supplements for anxiety and believe It or not I feel less anxious now than I did before.

It just seems as if I am getting hit with new symptom everyday.

Before my concussion, I had never dealt with anxiety before.

What natural supplements are you taking for anxiety? Some 'natural' can cause very unnatural symptoms.

Are you consuming any caffeine or food with MSG? Do you use antiperspirant with aluminum in it. What are any supplements, body building type or energy type, etc do you take?

Mark-

I quit Caffiene over three weeks ago however i did drink a green tea yesterday morning. Could that have caused my breathing issues that night?

I am trying to eat as clean as i can. i have been feeling bloated lately and the Dr told me to take some prilosek as the GERD could be causing the breathing and throat issues.

CW21,

You need to make an appointment to see a psychologist who specializes in anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders are manageable, but very difficult to treat on one's own. A psychiatrist can prescribe medication, but for a reliable diagnosis and treatment program, you're better off with a psychologist who specializes in anxiety disorders.

The symptoms you're describing sound a lot like panic disorder. This is treatable with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and meds. Meditation is a good supplementary practice, but you are very unlikely to get your anxiety under control through meditation alone--especially if you're just getting started with the practice.

Your anxiety about your symptoms is itself a standard symptom of panic disorder. Eventually, you'll need to get past the reassurance-seeking and learn to face your fears directly, accepting your worst-case scenario. This is not easy, but it is the only method that works. The fact that it is not easy is the reason why you need to find a therapist, and possibly meds as well.
