PCS and 1st IME
Hi All
I am 4 months PCS and scheduled for an IME in Feb. Any advice on what to expect, any do's and don'ts would be appreciated. Thanks for your help |

Drs fall into two categories with me post injury. Good ones are caring, helpful and understanding. Also he/she will explain everything to you so you can understand. A bad Dr is arrogant, patronizing, say one thing and orders or cancels therapy and test with out advising you. They will also try to ignore symptoms by not noting or explaining them.
An IME is going to fall into the second category. This Dr works for whomever is in the interest of managing your care. Think of it as a way of keeping costs down at the expense of your health. The visit will most likely be stressful. Bring someone who can support you. Don't let the nurse case manager in the room with the Dr. Be truthful and do not let them bully or bulldoze you. If you do not agree with the Dr. say so. Be civil and ask for a copy of the Drs report. Make sure the Dr understands you want ALL of your symptoms recorded and ALL or your concerns included in the report. Contest errors in the report asap. If he she fails to address each and every symptom let him/her know and ask why. |
