just found out I had a concussion about 28 yrs ago

Hello,
I always knew that I have something not funtioning correctly.

From my chilhood I have a small amount of memmory of I was always happy and outgoing.
I will try to explaing the way i feel best to my ability.
I have been struggling with the feeling or being in reality. I am short tempered in most cases, easy to get road raged and dont handle stress too good, very forgetfull and confused.
When i was younger ( now 36) i used to pay attention to walk on the center of tiles, count things along.
In most cases nowadays if i am aware of the things happen around me i can control my reactions to them. I am told several times bout being mean.

i am assuming the reason behind all what is and has happaned is;
i was told when I was about 7-8 yrs old i fell from 8-9 ft height was Unconscious for sometime. It has been couple of years since I have found out that has happened to me and I have no memory of it.
.
I don't remember good amount of my past and have really bad short term memory.
I have always had a high IQ, speak three languages, graduated college etc. I work in sales full time time and function good. But there is that struggle to keep things together, stay concentrated, and being in positive, or happy mood all the time is a little challenging.
In recent years I have more more realized and improved on handling things and everyday living stress. I dont take any kind of medication or vitamins except just started to take omega 3 fish oil gel tablets recently.
I hope what i wrote above is somewhat making sense to someone who can give me an idea what I have been dealing with and put in the right direction to better myself.

Thank you
Savas

Do you have health care and do yo have a DR you REALLY trust. If you have health care that allows it, I would make a appointment with a nuero-psychologist. They will be able to test you for cognitive deficits and areas that are giving you specific problems. A good one is going to offer sound advice on who to see and what kind of coping strategies will best work for you.

A good pcp can take this information and help you put together a team of drs so you can improve your quality of life. You can get insight into why you react the way you do. How to change the reaction to something that you feel better about while reducing your stress. These may seem insignificant but they are factors that affect every single moment of our lives. So even small changes can mean big difference of how you feel.

Savas,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. You have found a great place with good people.

Your description of symptoms sure fit the diagnosis of Post Concussion Syndrome. Other than what rmschaver said, I suggest you check out my thread about Vitamin Regimen. The concussed brain has far more need for good nutrition, especially the nutrition that helps the brain handle stress. The busyness of a work day can put a serious strain on a concussed brain. You are about to enter the age where concussions start to manifest with more symptoms.

After a NeuroPsych Assessment, you will have a better understanding of your functions. Meanness and getting angry too easily is common. Once we realize this physiological response, we can learn to avoid the trigger before the anger and meanness kicks into high gear.

Check out the online resources listed at the bottom of the Vitamins thread. You will go, "Ah ha !"

Please feel free to share anything with us. We have heard it all and lived it all.

My best to you.

rmschaver,
Since I found out there is a reason for the happening I am more calm and aware of the possible reactions and surroundings.
I have a Dr I go to but he is a physician which I am sure he can refer me to the right medical caregiver.

I am in welcome in every small change to make my and loved ones life better.

Thank you
Savas

Mark in Idaho,
It has been a relieve to find out more and more about what I have been dealing with.
I have never taken any king of vitamins or any kind of medicine. I have lived a
healthy life so far and hoping for more:winky:
I drink beer as social drinker, nothing more. Don't smoke anymore ( quit 3 yrs ago ). Eat daily home cooking from scratch, no frozen food or anything like it.

I have been spending more time researching for more information on making life easier and better.
I have found a disorder I never heard of. It is best description of what I have been dealing with. I am not sure where to post in the forum to get more
information from the members who possibly have experienced same things.
Here it is : Depersonalization disorder
I can not post a link since I have not enought posts.

Thank you
