vestibular therapy seems to be working!

I had my third vestibular therapy appointment today and my therapist and I have already noticed improvements with the way my eyes track, less headaches, decreased dizziness and even less light sensitivity and eye strain! I know the percentage of successes with this treatment is fairly low but I'm hopeful now that I might see some improvements!

Just wanted to post this in case someone was on the fence about whether to try this type of therapy or not.

Once a week she comes to my house and we go through the exercises I'm already doing and then she adds one or two new ones. For the rest of the week, until I see her again, I do them once a day myself. The day she's here and for a few days after, symptoms can be a bit worse but then they get better.

We added walking with a head nod today and that was very difficult but I'm hopeful by next week it will be easier too.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

Excellent--thank you for sharing! Please keep us posted with updates about your progress, and let us know whether certain exercises in particular have been helpful.

I got started on some vestibular therapy with a PT and later with my vision therapist, and am now going though exercises on my own. It seemed to help for awhile, but I think I've hit a plateau. I hope to get back into it once I have health insurance again.

Hitting a plateau or the improvements stopping is a fear of mine but I'm grateful to see some improvements. For the past 7 months I've been training myself to use workarounds to get through my day with the least amount of dizziness.

This has included: shuffling walk, looking down or straight ahead, turning my whole body instead of my eyes or head, etc.

Now I have to learn NOT to do those things anymore and that I won't fall over. I think the confidence and mentally knowing I can do these things is helping the most.

So far the very simple exercises of just moving my eyes up and down and then right and left with my head still and then eyes still head up, down then right, left seems to be doing the job!

I know these therapies aren't cheap but don't leave them too long because it sounds like there's a success "window"

You have hit on a key point! Doing the exercises at home daily is really one of the only ways to have success!! Good for you for keeping with it. Keep posting :)
