are there any tests for *SMALLER* fiber neuropathy? (smaller peripheral branches)
I know of Nerve conduction/EMG etc, but those test the larger trunk of the nerves. I know needle pricks/feather tests are kind of for the smaller peripheries, but they are primitive at best.
Are there any more dynamic and more detailed tests out there for the small peripheral branches?? Thanks! |
Skin biopsy for measurement of intraepidermal nerve fiber density. Most large medical centers or medical schools can do these....then send to Johns Hopkins for pathology results.

This test is not going to be helpful in your specific case if it's injury based as you say.

Well it was partly due to alcohol as well I believe, although the intense drinking only lasted around 3 years.. Either way, there has been some damage to peripheral branches..
