head trauma leads to big problems
Hello everybody, I would be really appreciative if someone can give me information for my condition and what I have to do to feel better. So here is my story- I was hit in the nose 4 years ago. Untill that moment I was a very powerful and energetic 15 year old teenager I had extremely high sex drive but was not sexually active. After that punch in my nose I became a different person , I was very sad and depressed and melancholic and I had extremely low sex drive.. but I didn't realize that the key to the problem is that trauma in my head... Now I am 19 years old and I have problems with the eyesight, I can't sit in front of the computer very long because of the headache and my poor vision and I don't feel horny and don't have good sex drive. What is more my personality changed. I did MRI test and it showed a normal brain but there was a conflict between the nerve and the blood vessel in the 5th right part of the brain. I don't know what to do, are there any medications for this condition. What I have to do because many years passed since the trauma in the head and I still have low sex drive and problems with the memory and vision(especially peripheral). I read about the pituary gland and the symptoms were exactly what I felt ( low sex drive , headache general fatigue, problems with the peripheral vision)but the MRI and the hormone test showed nothing wrong with the pituary gland. Can you tell me something, THANk you ! Oh I missed one strange thing, after the punch in the nose 2 days passed and then I had black eyes, the black eyes didn't show in the morning after the trauma but ot the second morning. THANKS :)

Thug,
Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry to hear of your struggles. Your symptoms sound like they can be due to a head injury. When did you have the MRI ? It sounds like you needed a CT scan at 72 hours after the injury. That is past so now we need to find a way to identify what that injury was and if there is anything that can be done. What kinds of doctors have you been examined by? How much damaged did you have from the hit to your nose? Did it break your nose? Have you been checked out by an Ear Nose and Throat Specialist for injuries in your sinuses? Besides sex, what other symptoms are your biggest struggles? |
The hit in the nose was hard but the ear nose doctor said my nose was not broken. My father insisted on making a CT because he has read that hits in the head can be very dangerous not immediately after the incident but after years (in fact he was right because in my case the symptoms go on). So we didn't make a CT. The strange thing about that hit was that in the first morning after the hit, my nose were swelled but I didn't have black eyes. But on the second morning I had two black eyes. My symptoms were not so severe, I didn't have extremely severe headaches. I became depressed and introverted, I began to feel weeker and sleepy. My vision was poorer( especially peripherical), my memory was not the same I did not feel as inteligent as i felt before. After year and a half I had the first conundrum- I couldn't have sex because I didn't have sex drive and I could not make an erection which stays for long. What is more if my penis became hard I was ejaculating 15 20 seconds after stimulation. I remember my experience with women before the trauma... I felt very horny and powerful. After 2 years and a half I felt that after I ejaculate I feel very tired and unfocused, my vision was too affected after ejaculation... STRANGE.. From all the stuff I have read so far I found out that the symptoms of a pituary gland problem matched the best in my case... especially with the low sex drive and the poor peripheral vision, But the MRI which i made 2 months ago( this makes 4 years after the incident) didn't show anything wrong with the pituary gland( so my hope fleed) But it showed a conflict between a nerve and a blood vessel in the 5th parth of the brain. Basically, this is my story... strange symptoms which are not extremely severe but are a deterrent for my normal life especially the sexual problem... I WANT CHILDREN !! :) :D

It sounds like you would benefit from a thorough exam by a NeuroUrologist.
Are you taking any medicines or supplements, herbs, etc. ? I don't understand what you mean by the 5th part of the brain. So, do you have a wife yet? There are a variety of systems for improving virility. I would not worry about the fertility side unless you are actively trying to conceive. If so, talk with the urologist. But, you are only 19. Where do you live? Maybe we can find a referral for you. A Neuro-Opthalmologist would be a good way to check out your vision issues. How is your blood pressure and heart condition? You will be surprised how that can effect you symptoms. |
I forgot to mention that the neurologist said that there is a sinus problem. No I don't have a wife but I really want to have a girlfriend and to lead a normal sexual life... But I can't even drive a car because of my poor vision and low reactions. So if we accept that this hit to the nose has done a damage to my brain and all those symptoms prove it, can I do something to improve my normal brain activity and health. For example this conflict between the blood vessel and the nerve( about the part of the brain I think that the brain is divided in different parts or regions i don't know, and this conflict is in one of these parts) Can i take medications to cure it ? and about those nasal problems can I do something to reduce the symptoms and to go back to normal life ?

and about the blood pressure and heart condition. I have problems with the thyroid gland before the trauma and soon they found a cyst on the thyroid and low TSH which is connected with the heart. But I am sure that the main cause of my sexual problems is the sex drive which comes from the brain. Thank you for your responses :)

I think you are getting way ahead of yourself. The vision and other functional issues should be pursued as the priority. The sexual issues may just get better if you can get help with the vision and reaction times. There are no medications that cure brain injuries.
But, you don't even know what kind of injury you have. Stop complaining about the sexual problems and it may make it easier to get a doctor to pay attention to the other problems. You have not answered any of my other questions. It would help if you tried to answer them. |
T-angel IMO your obvious desire for a sexual relation indicates a normal sex drive. What you may be experiencing is a dysfunction. A degreased sexual drive is often indicated by a complete like of desire to even engage in sex.
List which doctors you have seen and what they said. List the medications you are on or have tried. List your typical daily routine. We will help all we can but those things are important. Without them you may get confusing and pointless advice. |

3. Yes I have problems with the heart which are due to the thyroid gland problem. 4. I don't take any medications connected with the brain trauma, I take only Oxybor forte which is a food supplement and antioxydant (for the thyroid gland) 5. I live in Europe not in the USA Thanks for responding. you asked me about any sinus problems, so If there are sinus problems, can the symptoms which I feel be due to the sinus problem ? |
