1st Day after SCS trial
Hi Everyone,
Well yesterday I had my SCS trial started. The hospital was running a little late and it was a very long day but I am happy that it is over, for now. I had no pain at all during the procedure, the anesthesia team made sure I felt nothing. The rep from Boston Scientific was very nice and she met with me before and after the surgery. Unfortunately there was a problem downloaing the programs to my unit so for right now I have to adjust the unit for sitting, walking, laying down and so on.... I will see the rep and my pain Dr on Friday for the removal of the wires and to talk about if I go forward with the permanent unit. Pain right now is pretty rough, I have 3 surgical sites and they are barely above my bum and over my left hip, like truly that low. So for now I can lay on my right side which is most comfortable, and lay on back carefully but only for a short while. The feelings from the implant are so very WEIRD, I tried to describe to my husband but gave up. Then when I shut off the unit if I plan on a position change then it is a feeling like my legs are going to fly up in the air. So overall I am pleased that I have gone to this step and I am keeping a outlook that it will work for me. So I am off the rest for a while, I woke up at 4am when pain meds wore off and did not go back to sleep. Thanks for all up your support, Bye, Kim |
Awwww Kim
Ain't s'posed to be lots of pain from the Trial.... sure, a bit from the "getting it in" part, but once the Trial sets in as the means to reveal whether it works for you..... I was hopeful you would not be burdened with pain from getting underway.
Mine is Boston Sci Precision Plus and I have had the benefit of the buzz since 2010 now. I am thrilled to be one of the successful recipients. That sensation is difficult to describe when you first feel it, and the nerve stim effect is kinda hard to grasp. Even so, with time, and I encourage you to keep a diary throughout your "week" Trial, maybe it will all settle down enough to give you a good and vivid picture what the stim means to you overall.
