If you cannot due any type of work at all then go for it. It can be very hard to get it and even harder when your young. That said, if you are disabled by their rules it does'nt matter how old you are. You can ask any question's you have and if I can't answer it I am sure somone else can. I would advise getting a lawyer, it does'nt cost anything up front, and if you win it really is'nt that bad. They can help alot with getting all the medical records you need stuff like that. They will use every word you have said to a doctor or will say in the future, so keep that in mind. They will use every word you write on your origanl application, even years down the road if it goes that far, and it can. Be consistent in everything there is that has to do with SSD, if you can't sleep at night because of pain, say it everywere. If you have anymore questions just ask. Good luck.

I would think that since you tried to work and couldn't would be helpful. Do apply. You can make an appt and go down to SS office and they will help fill out application. Just be sure to have dr's names, addresses, telephone numbers, dates of care, all medications, etc with you at that time so it will go faster. Good luck. Lot of support here.

If you go to the main page for this SSD forum -
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum28.html

then look above the threads list for the sticky threads (look for the little green circles with an arrow in it) those have lots of how to get started tips posted.

I think you should go to socialsecurity.gov and thoroughly complete an online disability report and read everything you can about Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), make a list of your questions and after submitted your disability report, make an appointment to talk to a claims rep in your local office in person. The rest of your claim can be taken, some of your questions may be answered (but not whether or not you will be found disabled - that will take months). You should be prepared to provide the dates you worked at each of your jobs since age 23 because they might be considered unsuccessful work attempts (pay stubs more helpful that W-2's for UWA). The fact that you attempted to work and couldn't continue does not mean that you would be disqualified. Lots of people have problems that get worse over time. That is not unusual at all.

Don't put it off. The initial decision is 3-6 months AFTER you apply. If you have to go through the appeals process, it could be more than a year and then you still might not qualify. Get busy.
