Rocking the Brain Damage look

Hey there! I'm here out of deperation, 8 months into Post Concussive Syndrome due to a wreck where I was rear ended at a stop light by a F350 utility van going at least 55. :winky: I was fine for a while, sore and under chiropractic care but a month later I was diagnosed with severe PCS and muscle failure in my neck that took months to rebuild. I am here now with a sense of humor about the fact that my head feels like a giant baloon being squeezed from the bottom by my ever tightening neck muscles, vision damage, optical trauma, muscular damage, weakness in my right side and just all around Disorientation and fogginess.

All in all yes, I am feeling "better"... but I have such a long way to go it gets hopeless feeling some times. I have my good days and bad where I tend to fight tears which definitely doesn't help the ever present headache. I am an eternal optimist though, what doesn't kill me better run, and fast! :D

Hi and Welcome, thank you for sharing your last 8 months history. Your life turned upside down on that day. For some, like you, it is an accident, for others it's a diagnosis of a disease or disorder. But it's all life altering and traumatic.
I'm sure you will find a lot of encouragement and support here on NT. We especially need it when going thru health issues.
I have found so much support here and educational information. Know you will find the same. Take care, loretta:)

Welcome,

So sorry for your accident. It can be life altering. It can also get better. And sometimes it can get worse. PCS is just that. "Post" an incident. Your really cannot be accountable for everything, details, keeping up with things, appointments. I know this must be hard for you.

I would suggest you keep a diary, journal, with all of your complaints. List date, time, and to whom you're talking win on your note. If on computer, regularly backup...

Have you spoke with an attorney, been advised of your gifts?

Hope you find help soon...

I honestly can't thank you all enough. Finding this board has been such a sanity saver already. I honestly couldn't find anywhere that showed anyone going through all that I have been and was at my wits end thinking this just couldn't be normal. I wish none of us had to go through this, but at least there are those of us to tell the others that they aren't alone.

Since I was hit by a company vehicle the company is fighting to all ends to pay out as little as possible so my lawyers have their hands full for sure. It took me 5 months to get them to pay my car off! I'm still in limbo over doctors. I had a terribly complacent neurologist so I was sent back to work with full clearance even though I couldn't drive 5 miles without blacking out due to what I found out three months later was optical damage. I've just learned, thanks to this board, of neuro-opthomologists and happen to have one two blocks from my work and have sent a call in already. I am praying my insurance will cover it.

Though my vision seems to be the majority of my daily issue the neck muscles wear me out as they spasm and tighten so very often. I am hoping this will lesson, someday. For now, by 3:00 I am worthless.

Hi, and am happy you found NT too. When it comes to lawsuits, drs. do not want to be involved and be called in to testify. In my opinion, they want to distance themselves as soon as possible.
Strange but I also just learned of neuro-opthomologists yesterday on NT. I researched them and found one I am going to go see her. I have RSD and usually on that forum. recently my eye starting having issues. RSD is a neurological disorder and the optic nerve can have problems with some of us.
Do you pass out?
I do from my disorder. This happens when my blood pressure drops too low.
For me, it's from my neurological disorder. Most of the time it's normal, but never know when it will drop suddenly.
Are you on medication for your muscle spasms? Are you in physical therapy and or massage therapy?
I hope you get the medical help you need-your attorneys are on top of it to get the insurance help you need.
Take care, loretta

I've never lost conciousness, I just black out for a second or two then it comes back. Once it does it though it will do it again and again until I rest my eyes. I haven't gotten anything that would help with the spasms, nothing lessens them. It's more like constriction where they just get tighter all day. Bengary helps honestly, and is the only thing I have found that will.

I do massage thereapy for my neck and to keep ridding myself of the knots that form in my shoulders from the spasms.

I'm hoping they can get it taken care of soon. I can't afford many more of these doctors. :p
