Raging mood swings

Ive been having horrible mood swings to the point I hate being around myself. The sound of my own voice is like nails on a chalk board. One minute everything gets me so much in a rage and then the next minute Im fine. My body is so out of control, the meds aren't working all the time and I have to deal with my moods too! The other night I screamed at DH so loud and crazy he almost crawled into a ball in the corner. I dont do that to him! Whats my problem!?!?! I can wake up so happy and within 10 minutes be so angry Im ranting and raving like a lunatic! And I dont know why. DH asks me why Im so angry and I seriously have absolutely no idea. I usually go take a nap and hope n pray that I dont wake up a stark raving lunatic. The neighbors must think we are a very unhappy couple, but we're actually a very happy couple. URGH!! I dont know what to do.....

Hi Kitty

I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. The closest I have been is when I have been on monster doses of dexamethasone....and then look out, I was ready to inflict grievous bodily harm if I was crosed (tho I was far too weak to have done anything in reality). Are there any meds tht could be the culprit? If not, could hormones be to blame?

Failing both of those, I have heard (and read) that emotional lability is a problem for lots of people with MS. For me, I just cry at the drop of a hat, and can't control it at all, but I am sure it could express itself in lots of different ways, for different people.

It might be worth a call to your Neuro - if only to save you sanity (and your husband's). Feeling this way is destructive to you, and to your marriage.

I hope things get lots better for you

Luv

I agree with Lynn. Is is possible it is meds that you are taking or a combination of meds you are taking or even hormones? I would discuss this with you physicians - neuro and primary care as well as a gyn. Something is going on and it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. It is not only important to yourself but your husband as well and others that you may express this rage to.

Let us know what happens and how you are doing.

i agree with tkrik. don't try to tolerate this or sweep it aside.
i think it's serious enuf to contact your neuro & pcp. you might even see if
your dr is on call this wk/e. that way you can talk to them before Mon.

you might also ask your pharmacist if any of your meds could be doing this to you. have you been on any steroids lately?

please let us know you you are.

Hello Kitty lady

I know about what you are experiencing. I was dx'd yesterday with bi-polar. The mood swings all my life, have now got some kind of answer. It is OK to vent here, as there are many of us, that have these mood disorders. There are alot of different triggers. I don't mean to yell either, but it happens and I just could not control my temper. You will find some good people here, and we will all support you. I hope that a doctor will take the time to find out what is happening to you. I started several medications yesterday. I wish you all the best. ginnie:grouphug:

Steroids can really cause awful mood swings. When I had injections/meds containing steroids; WOW !!. Along with the mood swings;was especially angry; but also came migraines as well.

So many supplements/meds we take can have side effects that can really make us quite anxious. I was surprised when I took Stabalized R-Lipoic Acid I was quite jittery. One was okay; if I took two became very jittery and anxious.

Hope you get to the bottom of this. Rough for both you and your hubby.

Gerry
