Sciatica

Hi,

Anyone who has suffered this will have probably looked at a lot of info and know that the term sciatica covers a multitude of sins. I have it myself but not to the degree (at present) that I cannot operate on a day to day basis. The type I have affects my periformis. My mother on the other hand has for the last two weeks suffered the most debilitating type - not fully assessed as yet but the provisional diagnosis is that it is disc related. Her only vaguely comfortable position is lying on one side.

I am concerned that her medication has been upped to what I would have thought is a dangerous level - cocodamol 30-500mg (500mg being paracetamol) up to 2 tablets 4 times a day, and paracetamol 500mg up to 2 tablets 4 times a day. This puts her potential daily paracetamol intake at maximum 8000mg per day - surely this level is dangerous. Grateful for any advice

Welcome, Jeannette45. I'm glad jo55 gave you the link to a forum where you may be able to find some answers. I know you must really be worried about your mother.
Hugs,
