EEG for mtbi\PCS

Has anyone undergone an EEG to establish any brain dysfunctions? If so can you tell a little about what to expect and are there different studies for different parts of the brain or will one test show if there is an issue?

Thanks

I had a EEG by mistake the secretary made of different neurologist. It is one test that they put sensors with to head with gummy like patches to stick and you just take like a 30-45minute nap or if you cannot nap just rest...I hope that is what you were looking for?

jinga,

There are simple EEG's, EEG's with a sleep session, and qEEG's. The first two are looking for seizure activity. The qEEG is looking for waveforms that are compared to a computerized database to identify various dysfunctions. Unfortunately, the qEEG was been maligned by a neurology publication back in the 1990's and has not found favor with mainstream neurology. It has the most chance of identifying problems if compared to a good database. There are a few good databases.

What is your neuro hoping to find or rule out ? Do you have any symptoms that are a cause of getting the EEG study done ?
