Vitamins to aid adrenal insufficiency

Hi out there,

Are there any vitamins ro supplements that aid adrenal insufficiency?
Thanks for any insight.

Hi Shelley....

The adrenals do two major functions....
They are in two parts...

They make sympathomimetic amines (adrenaline) for fight & flight

And they make metabolic hormones for inflammation/sugar metabolism/
and water/electrolyte control, and some androgens.

What is it that you wish to improve?

Typically Pregnenolone and DHEA are used. But I would get a blood test first to see if these precursors are low. DHEA can stimulate sex hormone production.

This article is an example of what is out there... But I think it is pretty complex, and not all of the things listed may pertain to you:

Hi Mrs D.

I am circling back around to this.

Option B..the hormones for inflammation/sugar/metabolism. Thats what I want to improve.

Doc recommended a supplement until he has some tests back that were called neurottransmitters test.

The supplemnt is Adren All from othro molecular products.

Any thoughts.

I really think people should stay away from hormones, I mena there must be a reason why doctors are hesitant in prescribing these, or suggesting them, supposedly they increase cancer growth.

I really think I need a kick in the pants sometimes, and caffeine just doesn't cut it, and makes me dehydrated. Most times I have trouble breathing and getting my heart going. and I think sometimes, some people don't react to exercise well. especially people with anxiety problems, cause their pulse starts racing and some people jsut get angry. There are a couple suggestions for this, one: to start slow. Two: do not expect immediate results.

But in terms of the adrenal glands, I read this article where this lady had a really bad OCD, social anxiety, and they worked on here adrenals and then she got better. I don't know exactly how they worked on her adrenals, but it probalaby was either herbal medicine/ vitamins or maybe hormones. I read that they actually remove the hormones from adrenal gland extracts now as to not mess with the hormones. I'm slightly mistrustful of this, because sometimes herbal practices are not well regulated. I have to be wary of certain herbal remedies because I had a bad reaction to cordyceps or melatonin, either one may hav messed with my hormones too much.

I am a little guarded about this product:

so I looked up the herbs:

rhodiola:

Schisandra :
http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetCo...chunkiid=21719

Ginseng: most people know about this one. I won't link
to it.

Licorice:
This one bothers me:

This one can raise blood pressure

Bovine Adrenal extract:
Now this is problematic with mad cow out there.
The adrenals are innervated by nerve tissue, and consuming
nerve tissue is not recommended anywhere anymore!

If it were me...I would NOT take this product. I don't see much benefit, and perhaps some important risks.

Many products are out there with glandular extracts.
These remain iffy now safety wise because of animal proteins being prion risks. So please be careful.

There is a connection between adrenal and thyroid function.

My husband's adrenals were not up to par and we found he was low on Vitamin C and B5. These two are major contributors to adrenal health. So he takes Vitamin C (ascorbic acid/buffered) with bioflavanoid and additional B5.

He also takes other vitamins/minerals and EFAs.

There's a pretty good book we had called Adrenal Fatigue; the 21st century stress syndrome by james Wilson. He also has a website containing much of the same info (as well as product which have not tried) It's www.adrenalfatigue.org
