Nervous about Atlas Treatment
 

Ok, I finally broke down and called a new chirproactor and after a consultation have been told I need to start treatment with him for my Atlas being misaligned. I have been reading and never heard of the atlas bone before but it makes a lot of sense to most of my symptoms. The one I am going to is the only one in less than 50 miles of me that is certified to do Atlas adjustments with the special adjustment too thing (I'm too tired to go look and see what it's called again.)

Back info, my last chiropractic adjustment was to my C1& C2 vertebrae to realign them... I had no vision issues before that treatment and only made it three miles before my parents had to come get my car from the side of the road because I couldn't see straight. That being said, I am TERRIFIED to go back to a chirporactor. :(

I also have to start with the neuro opthomologist soon, but of course my insurance won't touch it. :/

How did the 1st chiro do the c1,c2 adjusting?
Did he do or look at any xrays first?
Did he do other adjustments also?

I've had atlas/axis adjusted and it is a very gentle & non aggressive adjustment.

Have you looked at youtube videos to see how it is done, to compare?

If at the new chiro you feel very nervous , tell him what happened at the other place, maybe he can reassure you that it won't happen this time.

The first adjustment was the quick snap type that I hate anyway. It was the first one and only one he did up that high but I had seen him for a few adjustments of other areas that were affected without issue.

I have watched the video which settled me a lot. I am glad to hear someone else say that it wasn't a major thing to feel. At this point I'm just nervous about any therapy causing more damage than good because things are so much better but still really rough. :eek:

That twist the head and pop the neck adjustment is too aggressive for our sensitive atlas to occiput joint. The fancy gizmo is better by far.

Please don't go! Chiropractic is the biggest scam out there. They pray on people like us where it is ambiguous as to what's causing the problem. I did the atlas treatment and then did lots of reading online. My BS detector was going off in the appt. but I was desperate for treatment and they got me for $600 before I stopped going.

Spend the $ on a good neuroopthalomogist as they were able to see I had convergent insufficiency and was causing most of my symptoms. I wear blue tinted glasses and I can function now. My neuro said 85% of head traumas result in convergent insufficiency so everyone with PCS needs to get tested for this.
