IVIG Question
 

For anyone who has done IVIG treatment for their autoimmune.... Is it possible to start getting very bizarre flu-like symptoms that begin one week after you finish your first round of treatment. I did 5 consecutive days of treatment a couple weeks ago and aside from some increased muscle spams and slight increase in fatigue I did fairly okay. No major side effects. But one week after I finished, I started getting extremely achy, flu-like, nauseous, headaches, really bad cold sweats, slight temps, etc. I originally thought it was the flu or a virus but now I am thinking it may be related to the IVIG because I've had the symptoms for an entire week and they arent getting much better. So for anyone with experience, is it unlikely to start getting symptoms one week after you finish your first round of treatments or do you think this is a random virus/flu? I even developed these mouth sores which I have never had before in my entire life. I am completely unable to function from these symptoms. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Is IVIG the only drug that was infused. My daughter would get the mouth sores when she was given methotrexate or prednisone, but not necessarily IVIG. So, I wonder if a different drug is causing the mouth sores?

Yes, there are comments in the literature about IVIG adverse effects that state some people have the adverse effects during infusion but others will not have the adverse effects until a few days later. You may want to do a PubMed search for IVIG adverse events to find the literature to show your docs.

I have heard that slowing infusion rates, reducing IVIG concentration, and changing IVIG brands can help alter these reactions but I have no medical training to say that.
