I have a long term temp position offered to me that starts Monday. I am currently waiting for a hearing on the fed DI (in two years). My doctors have not released me to work, and want me to get disability, as they (and I) believe it is warrented.

The problem is the two year wait for a hearing what do I do for income??? I'm already behind in my mortgage and the rest of the bills will soon begin to fall behind as well.

I'm desperate to know what to do. Do I take the job or not?:eek:

Is this a job you can do as a handicapped person?
If not, you take the job and probably lose the SSI.
Do you have an attorney? What do they say?

sally had a great idea. i'm sure a disability lawyer could answer that Q and i bet they wouldn't even charge you. it's worth investigating.

you're right about the wait. i waited 18 mos and was turned down the 1st time. i got a disability lawyer and then got approved. i had cobra during most of that time and boy was it expensive.

from my bad experience the advice i can give you is to make sure your dr(s) document, document, document what's happening with you. and, if they can do any testing to substantiate it so much the better. i let my drs send in the info and then got told in my denial letter that they hadn't gotten some crucial info.

so, get the papers yourself, copy them and send it in yourself with a return receipt requested. that snafu cost me a lot of time.

I did get to talk to a lawyer. She said the job would nullify my DI claim unless it only lasted a couple of weeks. Now all I have to do is wait for my hearing...in 18 months! What do I do for income in the meantime?

What a Catch 22........unfortunately many of us have seen the same situation.:rolleyes: Do you qualify for unemployment in the interim or qualify for any assistance programs? Wish I had more positive help, all the best :hug:

Oh crap. I hate these situations. :confused: I'm wondering about my own future job situation, what if I relocate? What if I take a management job? What if I try to go with a different company? I know this isn't only an MS situation but many deal with this. I hope that it works out ok and in your favor. :hug:
