Any other help for a Disable family out there?

Hi. We are a family of 5. My husbandd gets $250 of SSDI a month, and $350 of SSI.

A total of $600. For a family of 5, this is not much to live on in New York. We do not qualify for any help from DSS because we have "such high income".

But we just can't survive like this! Is there anything at all out there to help a struggling family?

Thank you!

Most people receiving SSI also qualify for food stamps. Some qualify for housing. Please refer to the "Catch 22" sticky for some links for additional resources.

If there was no other income, your husband should be receiving a combined total of $710 from SSI and SSDI, so that is a bit confusing.

Why don't you have a job? If there are no jobs where you live, have you considered relocating to where the jobs are?

Not trying to be smart, move to a small town where the cost of living is cheaper.
