RNS Results

My doctor is out of town but I did stop by and pick up my repetitive conduction study results because I was curious and my appointment isn't until the 18th. Under conclusions it says "Normal repetitive nerve conduction study with no electrophysiological evidence of defect at the neuromuscular junction. Clinical correlation is recommended," but under findings it says, "The study did show significant decrement response." So, what is decrement response and is it good (normal) that it's significant?

Hi, derosie.

I'm confused too! It said it was a normal RNS but there was significant decrement? Wuh? ;) The more a muscle is "zapped" in MG, the more decrement there is. So, yeah, their statements are quite contradictory.

I think it means that a Single Fiber EMG is in your future. You should call the doctor who ordered the test and get some answers!

Have you had the MG antibody tests, both AChR and MuSK?

I can't tell you what the results mean for sure. They have to be analyzed by your doctor, in combination with your clinical exam and any other tests that have been done.

I really hope you can get some answers soon. Do you have symptoms that look like MG? Is there anything else you need help with? Thanks.

Also waiting for results of my RNS & EMG I had done at the Cleveland Clinic on 3/22/13. I was really sore & exhausted the day after. On the EMG he stuck the needles/pins in my right arm, right leg, foot, back, neck, shoulder etc... He was also really making me push the muscles hard during the tests so hopefully something shows up. It's hard with all my symptoms & all I have for a diagnosis so far is "Subjective Weakness".

It took me a week to get the official results of my
SFEMG so you should hear something soon.
