Another ER trip
Well, I have been feverishly trying to stay out of the hospital, (as I have no health insurance) when wouldnt you know it, the good ole' MS hug showed its ugly super powerful self the other nite. The pain was so intense, my meds didnt work at all. I could barely breathe and my spine felt as if it was going to snap in half! Well, there was the nice 10 minute car ride to the ER, then a wonderful 30 minute wait to get into a room, then another 30 minute wait just for a nurse to come into the room. By this time I was screaming as the pain was not letting up. FINALLY the doc came in and ordered the wonderful pain med of dilaudid with a chaser of IVSM and some oxygen as my O2 sats were down to 59. Sent me home with some lortabs, and "dont forget to follow up with your neuro". Which I did the very next day. He increased my baclofen and tizanadine and also is increasing my amitriptyline. I tell ya, somethings gotta work here, Im going crazy with this every day pain. I dont get one day off anymore. Neuro also finally caved and gave me a rx for LDN and said he hopes it helps. Hey, guess what, ME TOO!!:thud:

Yikes! How scary for you. Hug pain is something I deal with on a daily basis to varying degrees. I hope the LDN helps you.
Did they mention why your O2 was so low? Was it due to pain? I'm just curious as I have never had an O2 level that low with or without the hug and if I did, other testing would be done such as a chest X-ray and/or cardiac testing and some blood work to check for anemia. Anything below 90% is abnormal. 59% would certainly be hypoexmic. Of course, if you were hyperventilating I could understand a low level but still, I'm surprised they didn't do more to investigate that before sending you home. There are many threads on here pertaining to the hug with lots of great suggestions. |

Awww, feel better soon. |
Gosh sooo scary
I hope you are feeling better! Must have been awful for you. Big hugs Lyn |
KL,
I hope you are feeling some better today. Best to you, ANN |
Thanks all. Im feeling much better. It was scarey. Never had the hug that bad, EVER! Neuro has me taking my meds different if this were to ever happen again that way I can avoid (hopefully) another ER visit.
Oh, and tkrik, they did do a chest xray, ekg and blood work. Everything came back normal so the low sats was from the pain and the constriction from the hug. They gave me O2 and the pain med and the sats went normal. |
that's awful kitty.
i hope with the med regimen you can control the pain. i know what's it's like to be in pain every day. it's very restrictive. here's hoping you will be better. and, not that kind. the gentle kind. |
That sounds aweful! I hope things start turning the bend for you soon. All that and no insurance is a very heavy load to bear. Hang in there friend
