L4-S 1 fusion how long?

I had a fusion Dec 2011. I've worked hard on recovery! I have 7 titanium screws, bone growth grafs?,. and plate. Last appt. I asked about the pins on xray. They are markers for 2 plastic discs. Didn't know,.clueless. sounds like 2.different procedures. Fusion was done through the front. I'm walking 40 mins a day, resistance training 20 mins 3 x's wk, and pt 25-30 mins a.day. Sunday off. for good.behavior. pressure and pain on mid and upper back is bad. What am I doing wrong?

What's going on? Are you NOT fusing? You should be fused, at least a good share by now. If you had this done in 2011, yes, you should be a goodly amount fused.

Aren't you fused at ALL?? If not, then something is wrong. Do you perhaps have osteoporosis? Have you had a bone density test done recently?

I wish I could help. Perhaps someone else can offer some help. God bless & take care. Hugs, Lee

I had L5-S1 spinal fusion - spacer, bone graft & 2 screws. Up out of bed the next day, 1 week in hospital, age 24 (ish) when I had it done. Surgery was 2002, 7 weeks off work. I rested for a few hours a day on my back, done my exercises and did housework (although slowly). Only problem I have now is when I have been bending forward for too long - muscle problems (lack of it cos I am not too good at remembering to do the exercises nowadays!!)

I would definitely be requesting an appointment with your surgeon to follow up on this. Or seek a 2nd/3rd opinion. Perhaps you have fused, but there is an issue up or down a disk or two? Please see your dr or get a referral back to your surgeon :)
