stelate ganglione blocks
Hello my name is cecelia I have had rsd since 2009. THe same doctor has been treating me. He is a pain specialist. He performed 2 stellate ganglion blocks on me in 2009 with Ocupational therapy I was in OT for 3 years and no improvement. went to his office the other day and he recomended I have 4 nerve blocks done again with therapy. Why is he doing these nerve blocks again? They did not help then why do more? Very confused??:(

Has he changed his technique? Will he be using different ingredients in the SGB "cocktail"? Have you been experiencing spread?
I think SGBs can be quite useful, but unless one of the above applies, then I don't think it would make sense to have additional SGBs performed by the same doc. Perhaps you should consider switching to an experienced RSD/CRPS doc with a good reputation? (Perhaps, yours is, but there are many pain docs that treat RSD and probably shouldn't be. It often means traveling to get to o an expert...) |
Thank you for getting back to me. My wrist and finger have not bent no movement since 2009. He told me to do the 4 sgb and OT, I did Ot for 3 years, They told me that they can do no more for me. That is why I am very confused why he said he was going to try to make my hand function better. We already tried that for 3 years why would he want to do this 4 years later? Makes no sense to me?
I wanted someone elses opinion. When I go to another doctor in the area all the doctor know one another and they wont give me opinion differant from my existing physician. I think I need to go out of state. It seems to be a click .all I know is I broke my wrist had a external fixator put on and it never moved again! Thank you cecelia |
Good question
