Has anybody managed to make it back to work?
Hi Everyone,
Have any of you guys managed to make it back to work? Just wondering how it is going? Mouse? Ms. Rrio? Hope you are all doing well today. :grouphug: Brain |
Well . . .
I was released to work, but that was just so I could get my severance pay. If I hadn't been laid off, I'm fairly certain that I would not actually be able to do my job. In fact, if I were having the extreme light sensitivity that I'm having now when I was released to work, I may have rethought asking the Dr. to release me. My short-term disability had been terminated retroactively to mid-December at the end of January, so we just needed the money. I am filing an appeforever the termination of my short-term disability just for the period before I was released to work.
Anyway, hats off to anyone actually back at work. I couldn't see how it would even be really possible for me right now and I know that I'm not even suffering as much as a lot of you are. For now, I'm just staying home with my daughter for a while. Finances will be tight, but we'll make it work! |
Appeforever
Sorry, I am using voice to text on my phone so I don't have to do as much typing, and I usually edit it afterwards because it's often not quite right, so that's why "appeal over" became "appeforever". Lol!

My TBI was late November 2010, I returned to work part time working from home March 1 2011, then returned to the office full time June 1 2011. I believe starting back part time from home helped me ease into the "real world" and helped speed my recovery.

BP I had mTBI on June, 4 2012. LOC and many symptoms, also neck and back pain. Treating WC doc sent me back to work immediately. Had three ER visits one hosp. stay due to TIA because of high BP 200/118. I was then off work for approx 4 months and tried a RTW which ended in another ER visit and after 2 weeks with a RTW. My work attendance has been spotty and challenging.
If finances are not an issue then make sure you get your symptoms sorted out to the right docs. IE neck and back to ortho, cognitive to neuro psych, etc. Everyone is different and every day is a challenge for me even though I am not able to work in my position as hired. |
Not back yet
Hi BP thanks for posting.
I'm not back at work yet. I just went through another upsetting WCB (workers comp) testing day yesterday and I've been in really high pain ever since. I will post more about it another day. It's too stressful to think about right now. They will be forcing me back to work before I'm recovered, I'd predict in about two weeks time. |
Good to hear from you Ms. Rrio
I am glad some of you have made it back to work. I am extremely proud of you guys. I don't know how you manage it but well done.
Ms. Rrio, I am so glad to hear from you. I am sorry that you had to go through another round with Workers Comp testing. I bet you are feeling horrible. Don't let their paid off opinions bother you. If you get forced back to work then give it a try but will likely cause problems. Let them see it. Maybe they will let you off with more recovery time. I am hoping you are able to return to work but I can see that you are not ready yet. If worse comes to worse and you find that you are just unable to work don't feel bad about it. You are giving it your best effort. Does Canada have a disability program for people who are unable to work due to health problems? This is what I am having to do. Your going to have to go through the system. I know you are a fighter and one smart, determined lady. Don't forget it. You have impressed me and I am not easily impressed. You are in my thoughts and prayers. These things will work themselves out. Hang tough my friend. Brain  |
I needed that today! Thanks Brain patch!

The reason I think I'll be sent back to work before I am ready and before any therapy is detailed in the following thread http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread185663.html
in which I describe my functional assessment from the clinicians hired by WCB. |
Made it in for a day and it went well, just a couple of symptoms as a result. Taking it slowly, and not in for another 5 days as part of a phased return.
