Another Newbie with TBI's!
 

Hello all!

New here to the site and really enjoying reading the posts and knowing that I am not alone. I am 43 years old and have had 6 closed head traumas since childhood. I am currently disabled because of the TBI's, having lost my successful career 8 years ago, and I am continuing to experience even more physical and cognitive issues as time passes. I was miss-diagnosed for years as being Bi-Polar (lack of knowledge about TBI with most physicians) and have only recently found a knowledgeable Nueropsychologist who specializes in TBI's that is helping me get the medical help I need. He "get's me!" FINALLY someone understands me and is addressing the REAL issues! :D

My TBI's have caused me to have insomnia, sensory problems, tinnitus, cognitive issues, ear pain, balance and speech issues, memory problems, migraines, ADHD, B12 deficiency, and now possible absent seizures that I am going to see another neurologist for in May. This is the short version. :rolleyes: It's been a fun ride! lol

It is still hard to accept the deficiencies in how the TBI's have affected me, but I'm grateful I have what I have and a very supportive family and friends. I consider myself lucky!

I'm looking forward to reading the posts, learning from you and helping others where I can also. It's nice to be here. :)
