New to NeuroTalk
Hi! I am a 31 year old female who about two weeks ago started getting heart palpitations and numbness in my left arm starting between my arm and chest. I went to DR and they tested my heart but said everything came out great. They did say that my muscle mass index was low and that according to my symptoms they wanted to refer me to a neurologist to get checked for MS. I freaked out. If anyone can help me with my symptoms I would appreciate it. Mainly I am suffering with a weak left arm and tightness in the muscles around the front of my food and down into my feet. I also am very tired. I appreciate it so much.

Hi Momma and welcome to NT. I really don't have any ideas to give you since MS can present in so many different ways. The symptoms you mention could be indicators of various things. If you've done any reading here, you've found that many go years before getting a diagnosis. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi and please feel free to stick around. All the best to you as your search continues for a diagnosis.........

Welcome MommaD, nice to meet you.

I think doctors who don't know whats wrong with you should not throw out terms that scare their patients. He should have just said, "I'm not sure what's going on here so I'd like to set you up with a Neuro for further evaluation.....
So now you just need to let the Neuro do his work and see what he finds out. In the meantime, don't panic! I know I can say that and you feel like you have no other choice than to panic. Hey, every one of us here panicked when we heard it could be MS! The not knowing what is going on is worse than finding out what it is. Once you know...you can move forward. The Neuro may do an MRI to check for multiple lesions on the brain. My MRI's came out clear until the 12th year! In the meantime I had weird things come and go all the time. I thought I was a nut case because the docs couldn't find anything. Right now, just begin the journey and let the docs do their work. Let us know how it goes. Breathe! (And for God's sake; don't let well doers give you horror stories of "the guy they knew with MS!!!!!!) Read what I have to say and the bottom of my page |
i couldn't have said anything better than karilann.
so i will just say welcome to NT. take 1 day and 1 dr and 1 test at a time. let us know how the process is going. |
I agree, NurseNancy,
Going through the testing, and wondering do I have this illness, is a scary endeavor. The numbness and tightness, is certainly something to be tested. I am curious about the heart palpitations. I get those, they are part of the anxiety that I sometimes get. The neurologist, doesn't address those. Keep us posted, |
