SPAM from "PD Advocates"

Not sure where to post this or if it even matters, but I have been getting e-mails from "PD Advocates <dont-reply@pdadvocates", and the text that follows is a few words about "your job loss quota" and other nonsense. They do not ask for anything - or try to sell anything.
It's chilling only because I post on the PD Forum here, and somehow they knew I would click on it because it says PD Advocates; they knew that I would click
So then I delete real quick, but maybe just the fact I opened the message let them in the door.
Anyway, if it continues, I will unleash the hounds on them. If hackers think they can out-hack my gang, they are mistaken.

Hi Bob
We have no control whatsover over what email spam you get.

As you know, we have several features in place here that prevent anyone from being spammed here on the forums. However, you have added the ability to receive actual emails from other members, rather than just PMs, in your profile settings and so you may want to change that as it is an optional feature. Though I doubt these PD Advocates are connected to any members?

Oh, for sure it is not members. The tone is more like the ones that go "kindly sir or madam, needing your assistance to transfer moneys from state banking institution in Nigeria please to be sending me your credit card number grateful for your assisting we will reward you."
Except these recent ones zero in on PD. "PD advocates, change your job loss quotas, many needed, good jobs for PD, no same type experience required"

Not very tempting, really. I just posted it here, just in case other posters here get them too, I thought I should report it. I deleted them and all seems well. Just to say, if anyone else gets e-mails from "PD advocates" sent by "no reply" offering you "jobs in your expertise", don't take the job, at least not until you get the money from Nigeria.

Oh, Bob.... if it is that Nigerian banking scam... you are probably not aware that there is some way they read your name in your emails (possibly hacked a friend of yours, too) and that is how they put that title in to lure you. I am unclear as to how they do it, myself, but I've received strange personal sounding things like you describe. (mostly medical, since my emails have alot of medical sources).

Another thing to watch out for in your private email...is
[no subject] in the title line. Don't open these...just delete them.

Most of the time if you refrain from clicking on any link you will be safe, depending on your email set up. You can choose an option (Yahoo does this), to mark that sender as "spam" and it will then go into your spam folder.

Abuses in emails are many, and seems they increase all the time with new styles.

Those <don't reply> type addresses are often automated things,
and often come when you have just purchased something, or
joined something. The ones I get are usually "thank yous" of some sort.

It is important NOT to click on "block this message" or "discontinue this message"...as spammers/hackers use your response as vindication of activity of that email. So don't try to block them, and don't click on ANYTHING in the message of any type.

If you add somebody to your blocked list, they will not know that you did or did not receive their email. In fact, you won't even see their message. I've done this for years now with great success.

However, as far as spammers go, I just delete spammers without even looking at their message as you can tell that it is a spammer.
