Is it worth going to the doctors?
I have MCTD (sjogrens, raynauds, fibro, EDS Vascular/Classical) and about 2 weeks ago I started the tingling/numbness in my feet and face.
It has progressed to my legs, waist, back (burning/ freezing), arms and hands. I have the random muscle twitching and the feeling of warm or cold water running down my legs. I am periodically getting the shooting pains down my legs. The one good thing is that I have severe tendonitis in the length of my right arm but I cannot feel the pain anymore. My questions are: Some people have had PN for years, does going to the doctor make a difference? Or is it just a "wait and see" type thing? I am personally tired of going to the doctors. Since this has happened so fast, does it mean that it will more likely to stabilize soon? I take supplements and have even upped my b12 and d2 a week ago. Thank you, Karen |
Welcome to NeuroTalk:
I don't think you will see much from D2. Did you mean to type D3? Both B12 and D3 will only work if you are low in them. Since you have autoimmune disease, quelling that reaction is typically the way to go. Without treatment to suppress the excessive autoimmune attack, healing will always be behind continuing damage. Muscle issues will respond for the most part to magnesium use. That will help the PN too. So think about a quality magnesium supplement daily. We discuss magnesium almost every day here. Use the search function to see the most recent posts. Start with soaking in epsom salts, and see what happens and move on into oral or topical as you see improvements with the soaking. |
:) Thank you for your quick answer, Mrs. D.
Yes, it was D3 :) I do take Magnesium also but I will try the espsom salt bath. Karen |
I hope your magnesium is not oxide form. That won't work, as
it is not absorbed. Sometimes areas of the body have constricted blood vessels, from inflammation and the oral mag in the blood can't get thru. Soaking in epsom salts will locally open up those areas, so blood flow improves. Eventually the soaks can be dropped if you then see more improvement with the oral. |
