unable to sit nothing helps any suggestions?
Thank you for being here! I have had the symptom of sciatica since last June and have had 2 epidurals, burning of the nerves, S-I joint injections, and piriformis injection and some trigger points done.
My MRI done over 2 years ago showed moderate to severe facet disease. Overall my function is better and I am stronger due to having physical therapy and sticking to it no matter how it hurt. But the burning in my rear keeps my from sitting. Also, I cannot lean over from a standing position, I have to drop to my knees. I lean over a big ball, stand, walk around or lay on my stomach to relax. In social situations I have to get up and down, and travel is impossible. I take anti-inflammatories, topamax, and rub on voltaren gel and sometimes use lidoderm. I do not tolerate narcotics and lots or other meds due to migraines. Is there anything left. I am skinny so that helps with the standing, but my knees are starting to hurt with all the kneeling. Is there anything left to do besides alternatives like chiro, yogo etc?? thank you so much!!! : |

YOGA!!! Definitely, worked for my own sciatica. I have an old back injury, herniated disc, that when it slips leads to sciatic nerve pain. Went to one of my neuro visits during one, nothing like being told there is nothing there when the reflex test is administered. If I recall, he prescribed Tylenol with co-deine. And I started yoga at the same time. Just the basics to begin with. Reach up, touch the sky, bend down, touch the toes. Bring the legs out, one my one...and just real slow to start. Then I built up. Can do upward bow now. Don't ask me to try the pigeon, omg, I'm brave, just not that brave, haha. I really hope your pain subsides. I can relate all to well to sciatica. It's awful to deal with. Yoga worked for me. Not sure what's the best course for you, but I hope whatever it is, works. |
Hi there. Welcome.
I too suffered badly with sciatica years ago. I thought I would go out of my mind. I was on the couch for weeks. Every time I tried to stand up it was like I weighed 2000 lbs. I had to hold on to get myself up. Oh brother, I remember this so well. As it came, it went. I probably took anti-inflammatories and they did the trick. It's been about 15 years since my last attack. Thank god. It's very painful. You have my support, believe that. I hope you find some relief. And again, welcome!! Take care, Melody |
