eye appt, prism lens, light therapy
Today I finally got to see an eye doctor from the NORA website, thank you Mokey for sending me his link!, and I have been prescribed a prism lens and light vision therapy. Just in case anyone is curious, the appointment was approx. $250, the glasses would have started at $200 depending what frames and lens coatings you choose, and the vision therapy will be 3x/week for 20 appts and will be $800.
I am very excited! The doctor knew everything I was talking about and even said what I was experiencing before I told him! We even said one thing at the exact same time (can't stand people standing too close to me because I can't see them properly). It was wonderful just to be understood, as I'm sure you all get. I had the lens on for only a minute but the world finally looked "real" to me again! I didn't want to take them off!!! Can't wait till next week when I can pick them up. My head and eyes are killing me and I'm going to go now but I just had to share with all of you. Even if you don't think you're problem is eyes, if you're having problems with dizziness or sensitivities, eye fatigue or strain, etc. get them checked out! He even said that carrying on conversations is linked to the eyes. I will be able to follow them more clearly once my eyes are better. I can't wait, and am trying not to get my hopes too high, to see what benefits I'm going to have from this! Today is a good day! I hope you are all having one too! CC |
SOOOOOOOOO happy that this is promising for you. I love good news stories!!!!! Wonderful! Keep us posted as to how it goes.

Congrats!
I'm doing vision therapy right now too! Mine is now just once a week. I did intensive therapy to get rid of my dizziness and now am trying to get rid of my eye strain and light sensitivity. Isn't it great to be empowered? My binasal occlusions are basically doing for me what prisms will do for you. It feels like a game changer! I hope the prisms will be for you!

So happy for you!!! I have Mokey to thank as well for finding me a qualified person in my area as well.
In the one month of wearing my prism glasses I have seen the most drastic improvement of all six months so far. :D |
That's great MsRrio! I'm so glad you're finally seeing results! You're doing vestibular therapy too right? That's probably helping also.
Did your eye doctor say if you have to permanently wear the prism lenses? I used to only wear my glasses for driving and watching tv or at a movie theatre etc. but I'm thinking I may have to wear them more often for a while. And my eye doctor says he thinks I'm going to permanently need the prism, although it's a very small prism. Just wondering what others have been told. |
Wonderful news. MsRrio!
We love good news here!!!!! If only it were the 100% cure....but at least it is part of it. The brain will develop and heal until the end of its life. At least that gives everyone a bit of hope. Having said that, have felt horrible for the past three weeks (i.e more horrible that the weeks prior to that)... But that is how it goes, I guess! Next week can be better! |
I'm sorry you're not feeling well Mokey! It's a good reminder though that even though the prism glasses and therapy is going to help, I have to be careful not to get my hopes up too high! It really isn't a magic cure all. It will be good to get rid of some of the problems and then see what's left and re-evaluate.
I hope you are feeling much better next week! I haven't had the time or energy to read all the other threads, so I hope this isn't repetitive, but have you tried any herbal or prescription meds yet? I hope your day gets better. CC |
