Finally found that report with my Spinal Dx
No wonder i couldn't remember it! I still can hardly even say it  "Degenerative spondylolisthesis". The pain is still moderate with careful movement, and I did get the Back Brace, which I was astonished to find allowed me to walk over 75 yards before having to sit. I know i should be doing my Physical Therapy exercises and continuing to walk, but it's so hard, such a big deal, and i know the short-term reward will be pain and exhaustion, not to mention irritability ( !).
I feel like i'm back in college taking a Physical Education major :D, only I'm on the downhill side of things. If any of you know more than the kindergarten variety of information on this condition, I would appreciate you sharing with me. The specialist billed for an hour of "Counselling" but all he talked about was sticking needles in my back and killing the nerves  ! And, oh yah, the Trial needle sticking with Novacaine to see if it might even work :(. Not going there! Thanks, StormE1 |
Ok ~ Spondylolisthesis is the forward displacement of the lumbar vertebra on the one below it, especially the L5 over the sacrum (S1) which produces pain by compression of the nerve roots. And since he said it's "degenerative" it sounds like it's just going to get worse.
Walking is often the BEST therapy in the world. The longer you do it, the easier it becomes, and the farther you can go. So don't give up on it. It's VERY good for you! And yes, you SHOULD be doing your physical therapy exercises. ;) I know they're a pain, literally, but are really beneficial. Have they given you anything for pain? Does it work? If not, you might tell your doc about it and ask for something that DOES work because I'm SURE this is a very painful condition!! You MUST advocate for yourself because no one else will. Best of luck and I hope your pain eases soon. God bless! Hugs, Lee |
