Switching AD?

Hi.

I am now taking clomipramine (anafranil), which is a tryciclic AD. I take 50 mgs/day. It worked for me in the past, but now I still feel depressed and anxious. I think I might have to go and try another AD, like lexapro, effexor or paroxetine. I just don't now if I can mix the two and slowly drop the anafranil, or if I have to drop anafranil first. Anyone have any thoughts?

The usual recommended procedure is to drop one or the other. In other words tricyclics and ssri's can interact to produce a serotonin overload which can be a very bad--even fatal happening.

However I don't know the specifics as to lowering one while rasing the other etc. This is something which should be handled by the professionals--dr, pharmacist, etc.

Take care:hug:
