I have never joined anything on the internet so I am not sure of correct protocol. I have had Parkinson's for 14 years. Question has anyone else had problems with compulsive eating while taking Mirapex?

Weight Gain
 

Hi Paulie,
I'm not sure what Mirapex is but I was treated for PD spasm/pain with Lyrica & that triggered compulsive eating & consequent weight gain
(28lbs+).
Any hints on how to lose weight whilst handicapped by restricted mobility?

Hi Angela I have tried taking chromium picolinate to curb my appetite but to no avail next week I am going to try acupuncture. If that doesn't work will try another med. I have also gained weight. Mirapexs chemical name is pramipexole dihydrochloride

Welcome, paulie! I've got myasthenia gravis, so have never taken Mirapex, but I can definitely empathyze with the weight gain. Being fatigued most of the time with my MG, I've tended to slowly but steadily add the pounds over the years. And a few months on steroids didn't help the situation! :D
