Syntonic Phototherapy
Hello!
I have just started vision therapy, I believe it's called syntonic phototherapy, and was surprised that all it was was looking at a coloured light for 23 minutes! For the first three minutes the light was green then for 20 minutes it was kind of a teal colour. Has anyone else had this therapy? Any success stories or concerns with it? I was expecting to actually be following things with my eyes or doing games of some sort; not just staring at a coloured light! I have to do 20 sessions of these and man are they boring. I'm going to listen to a podcast next time or something. I was trying to do some research on this therapy yesterday but my eye strain didn't let me get very far. It has even been recommended for my son with ADD so I'm looking into that too. Thanks for any information anyone has! I hope everyone has a great day! CC |
Sounds a lot like Sensory Integration Therapy
Are you just staring at lights or are there other senses involved? I did a lot of light staring, but it was combined with movement (a revolving table) and sound (headphones with broken up music). I had great success with my therapy, though I still have to do some traditional vision therapy as well!

Nope. Just staring at a solid coloured light. It kind of seems to be maybe changing tone or doing something but it's very subtle or tricks that my eyes play from staring at it so long!

Also
Yes, it is super boring staring at colored lights. Your therapist may not want you listening to headphones though. Also be aware that the colored lights can affect your mood. Too much blue-green made me very emotional. Red makes some people feel irritable (though not me!)

I have read that somewhere about moods. Strangely, I think the blue/green light I was staring at made me less emotional and happier! The day before the therapy I was an emotional wreck but the day of, I was good!
Thanks for the warning! I hope I never have the red lights! |
Most people have good reactions to the blue-green lights! I'm just weird!
