Why is it so hard to find a good doctor?
I am really getting frustrated with my neuro. During my first visit they were brief and only spent 10 minutes with me. I was told that they would start with bloodwork and then an EMG. I go to get my blood test and the lab doesn't have the paperwork from the doc. I go back to the doc and they can't get a hold of the doc. I wait and call, no answer. Next day, I call and wait, no response. I drive to the clinic and still no answer.
I finally get a call from the docs associate (after 4 days) who says blood work is not needed. WHAT??? Isn't that the norm, blood tests first to rule out other causes before they move on to the EMG testing and MRI testing? I am frustrated with this doc. Should I find someone else? |

Sick in Sandusky... Good luck |
I would definitely find a new neuro. I don't think he's taking you seriously. I am currently waiting for an appointment later this month to see a new neuro. I feel mine hasn't taken me seriously after 8 months and is way off base in how he is trying to treat me.
Blood tests were the first thing my first neuro ordered. Thirteen tubes full! Good luck in finding someone else. Everyone deserves a doctor who will treat them as if they matter, and you matter. LillyLee |

Believe me... I totally understand. Best of luck in you search... I'm involved in the same process. |
To all looking for doctors
Don't give up. When they screw up like that, wave bye bye and never go back. There are good ones out there, you just have to get angry enough to really look hard. I actually did wave bye bye without a word to my first neruologist and walked out. I had a bit of a tude....Good luck to all. ginnie:hug:

For a doctor to say that blood lab work is not necessary to start diagnosis of what I have is beyond ludicrous. The doctor said they could use lab tests from one year ago???? I didn't have these conditions a year ago. A lot can change in a year.
I keep calling and leaving messages and nobody returns my calls. The staff is a joke. I am so angry. I wasted a week with this doctor. Now I have to start all over in my research. Most good neurologists need a referral from your main doctor before they will see a new patient. |
Perhaps look into the integrative type MD? They will certainly test you.
Google "integrative doctor" and you zip code to find one. Sally uses this type of holistic physician with success. |
Why
I think the docs are too busy to really care or remember your case. I have several dcotors and they all seem generally good but I've noticed that they contratict themselves often. Write down what they told you and date it because more and more I'm finding out that they will renig on what they previously said. An example. Years before I had aortic valve surgery my cardiologist said I may be able to get a repair rather than replacement at the Cleveland clinic. When the time came he said he didn't think I was eligible for that kind of breakthrough surgery.(he acted like he never recommended it) I pursued it myself and after much hassel fighting with insurrance and trying to get this doctor to go to bat for me(witch he did reluctantly)I went to Cleveland and had a successful repair. Then of course my cardiologist took full credit for it. So even if they are good. Listen carefully and hold them to their words.
As far as nerve issues, you may need to seek a specialist out of town. |
blood work
For your nuero to not order blood work is almost a crime. My nuero had extensive bloodwork done wich led to finding things they were not looking for. That's just crazy.
