Paresthesias induced by pressure
Hello all! Hope yall are all doing well.. I am still a mystery, but I was curious if anyone had this symptom (I am thinking it sounds more like a peripheral issue, instead of central nervous system - but who knows)! I have numbness/decreased sensation all of the time,, but
I have noticed that when I use any pressure with any part of my body it goes numb and stays numb for a while - for example, if I press a button on a remote.. that finger will be extra numb for at least ten minutes.. when I sleep, if I sleep on my back, I am numb from neck down - buttocks, and anywhere that has more pressure is worse.. If I lie on my side - my entire side is numb (with the exception of my left leg, which seems to be the least symptomatic all the time).. anyhow.. I've noticed this for the past 2 years since I got hit with this mess.. curious if that is a clue to what this is? (I am on IVIG for the mystery).. Thanks in advance for any advise! |
If your doctors don't know . . . I doubt anyone here will have a definitive idea. It is a bizarre symptom, and I certainly would want to know what is causing it, what it means, etc. I hope you can find out.

My Dr doesn't seem too interested in my case anymore.. they want to just keep me out of the office and don't know how to explain most of my symptoms.. I'm just thankful they are giving me treatment, but I sure wish I knew what the heck all of this was!
Do people with MS ever get symptoms like these? |
Hello bny806,
Numbness that is experienced with MS does not change due to pressure or movement. Best wishes... |

Although paresthesia is annoying and can be difficult if you are dropping stuff etc. it really isn't all that earth shattering. :( |
My numbness does seem to be affected by certain types of pressure. Not all the time, but sometimes it seems worse after sitting a long time. Or sitting/laying in a certain position.
