Happy Mothers Day, I am a newbie so please excuse me if I don't get this posted in the right place or get it said quite right to allow everyone to understandthe events of the last 15 months. In Feb. Of 2012 I was involved in a truck wreck, & ever since everything has been so crazy. Saturday morning just before noon I topped a rize on a 2 lane highway in northern Co. To see there was a car coming towards me in my lane, attempting to avoid a head on collision I moved as far as I could to my right preying the driver would vear back into his lane, I had been going about 65 with a fully loaded trailer,I managed to slow to about 40 before he hit me on the drivers side of the cab, then he hit the 2nd axle , then the 3rd knocking it completely out from under my trk. He thenfollowed down the trailer striking the front axle on the trailer knocking it sideways which flipped the trailer onto its side, causing the front of my truck to raise into the air & flip backwards coming to land facing the oposite direction on top of the trailer. I did remain in the seat throughout all of this. The driver only had a compound fracture to a leg.(he was passed out). I was taken to the ER by ambulance, with severe pain in my buttock/low backth did tests & determined there was no broken bones, or internal injuries,only mild DDD & released me. After 5 days in a motel my Husband finally got there to get me & we made the 650 mile ride home, 5 days later I got n to see my PCP, who agreed it was probably a sacarelium sprain, & gave me painpills 7 muscle relaxers,& told me to see a chiro, which I did 3 to 5 times a week until Sept. When he suspected Arterial Disection & sent me to my PCP for tests,which he would not order. I had MRIs in May & Sept. I will post results & the rest in a minute.

May MRI:C5-C6 mild disc space narrowing is seen with a broad based posterior disc bulge with mild canal stenosis with the AP diameter of the spinal canal measured 9.4mm. Mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing is seen. C6-C7 a mild posterior disc bulge is seen without canal stenosis or Neural Foraminal narrowing. Sept. MRI: C4-C5 there is mild diffuse bulge with no canal or faranormal narrowing. Slightly more prominent than on previous study. C5-C6 mild loss of disk height. Diffuse disk bulge narrows the AP diameter of the thecal sac to 9mm. There is effacement of anterior subarachnoid space & flattening of the cord. There is bilateral unconvertebral hypertrophy with moderate bilateral foraminal narrowing. C7-C mild diffuse disk bulge with no canal or forominal narrowing. T10/T11 Right pereneural cyst. No abnormal ehancement is seen to suggest solid tumor. Sorry it took so long to finish posting this. My Husband Made me Breakfast so I had to take a break.

Ok, I'll try to help:

C5-6 disc space narrowing with broad based disc bulge & mild canal stenosis. This means the space between the vertebra is narrowing, probably due to degenerative disc disease (we all get it); plus you have a very wide based disc bulge plus mild spinal canal stenosis, which is narrowing of the spinal canal. Then there is mild foraminal stenosis. The foramen are the holes that the nerves pass thru to get to the spinal canal, and yours are getting narrow. The disc bulge narrows the diameter of the thecal sac. The thecal sac is a membrane of dura matter that surrounds the spinal cord & cauda equina. The thecal sac is filled with cerebral spinal fluid. There is effacement (wiping out) of the subarachnoid space and flattening of the spinal cord. There is bilateral hypertrophy (overgrowth of bone) with moderate foraminal narrowing. (see above)

C6-7 There is a mild disc bulge

C4-5 There is a diffuse disc bulge, more prominent than previous study.

C7-T1 Mild diffuse disc bulge.

T10-T11 Right perineural cyst - this is a cyst on or around nerves.


You need to take your MRI films and see a NEUROSURGEON -- NOT a Neurologist, but a Neurosurgeon. He will be able to advise you as to what to do. While this doesn't seem to be a "terrible" film, I'm concerned about the C5-6 level. That really needs to be looked at, especially due to the fact that it says the cord is being flattened.

Started out low back pain, then sore all over with headache. When low back eased enough that I realized where else I hurt it was almost 2 weeks after the accident. My neck upper back & right shoulder began hurting & progressed to severe burning in the base of my beck radiating down into the upper back between the shoulder blades, & down the right arm, have loss of grip & numbness sometimes. Low back has continued to be bothersom & is now radiating down the left leg. I have an ocupational policy similar to workers comp. My PCP refered me for pt & pm, my ins.denied both, & chiro refered me for pt, that clinic refused to take ins, so I didn't get treatment at either. Every specialist that was on their approved list refused to treat me because it was a auto accident . They sent me to a IME who decided the end of september that my low back was healed as of July 30th & because my neck upper back & shoulder wasn't reported at either the emergency room or the first followup with my PCP that it wasn't related to the accident. They have now stopped all payments for lost wages & will not cover any tretreatmenttreatment. I found a PM Dr tha twould treat with a letter of protection, he did the first injection, of the three, then I was notified from the clinic that they no longer haveb anyont to do them. Now back to the drawing board to try to find someone to treat me.any suggestions or ideas or just an explination of the MRIs would be greatly appreciated.

You need to find a WORKERS COMP ATTORNEY and fight this! You are not being treated fairly!!! These insurance companies do this to people all the time because they get away with it!! People don't know what to do!!! So talk to your insurance company about getting an ATTORNEY for your case!!! You have the RIGHT to fight this!! They do NOT have the right to cheat you!!! And that's exactly what they're trying to do. :mad:

You shouldn't have to pay for an attorney on your own, but you just might have to. I'm not sure how this works. It would seem that the insurance company should have to provide you one to fight your case. Talk to them about this.

What about the insurance coverage from the guy that hit you??

You might need a really good atty to work thru the combination of possible coverage, to get advise on a claim like this.
Wouldn't there be the work comp , the at fault guys in,s and the ins on the truck you were driving??

I've read that some injuries do not show up right away, like whiplash, soft tissue, etc, so a lapse in time is not a deal breaker, but you need a really good drs, and atty to prove these things.
